Day 14: The Christmas dress

Every girl buys a new dress for Christmas, don't they? This pretty prom dress is mine this year as, not only is it a sensational steal at just £15 from Primark, it's sweet enough for family gatherings yet sexy enough to dress up for a night out. In a textured silky fabric with sheer shoulders and sleeves , it has a flattering empire line and a bubble hem (thanks to the lining being sewn onto the edges of the dress). It comes in silvery grey, navy and cream.

Navy would have been my first choice (it's such a chic alternative to black) if they'd had it in my size, but grey is a close second. I've teamed it with my Tabio heart tights.

What I love about this dress is that it needs minimal ironing. It's in the kind of fabric (we're talking man-made fibres here) that you can just sling in a bag and then pull out again, still looking great and crease-free - which is perfect if you're travelling around the houses this Christmas. Oh, and the empire line is fantastic if you've eaten one mince pie too many!
