My best bargain buys of 2009

As 2009 draws to a close, I thought I'd reflect on the buys I've blogged about this year and do a little round-up of my favourite (and most bargainous!) purchases. I've chosen my top three because whittling down a top five was tricky, whereas there are three clear winners in my book:

• My £50 Chie Mihara sale shoes from Whistles* because I've worn them with everything from jeans and leggings to skirts and dresses, plus they are sooo comfortable to walk in
• My £9.99 Perspex necklace from H&M because it doesn't look like it's from the high street and gets admired every time I wear it
• My £2.70 vintage satchel from eBay because it's a well-made classic that just so happens to be right on trend for spring/summer 2010, too!

Interestingly, my top trio are all accessories. Which brings me to conclude that you don't always need to have new-season clothes to keep your look current - just pay a little attention to the detail instead. So, why not give your existing wardrobe a lift with a belt here and a scarf there? It's an inexpensive way to stay on trend!
