Now I know many of you are stylish spectacle wearers, so I thought I'd bring this to your attention...
Specsavers is looking for 2010's Spectacle Wearer of the Year. So, if you look great in glasses (be it for vision or fashion purposes), enter its competition and you could win £250 and a holiday in St Lucia. Oh, and a year's modelling contract with Storm Model Management, too (Kate Moss is on its books!). Not bad for just looking good in glasses, eh?
Get your skates on as the closing date for entries is 31 July 2010. Click here to enter. And, if you're not a spectacle wearer, help spread the word on Facebook or Twitter. You never know, you could help launch the modelling career of a friend! What's more, you'll be aiding a good cause, too, as Specsavers will donate £1 to the anti-bullying charity Kidscape for each eligible entry.
Btw, if you don't wear glasses, maybe it's time you gave them a go. I've had my fair share of shopping for spectacles (the Stickman's a wearer) and it's always fun trying on different styles - it's amazing how much they can change your look.
With celebrities such as Alexa Chung, Chloë Sevigny and mother-and-daughter duo Madonna and Lourdes promoting spectacles as smart, sexy and stylish, it's not surprising that the number of perfectly sighted people wearing glasses as a style statement is on the increase. You only have to look on the high street and everywhere from Topshop to ASOS is doing glasses as a fashion accessory. So, next time you're shopping, try a pair on.
