Preview of Orla Kiely for Uniqlo autumn/winter 2012

Orla Kiely for Uniqlo is back for autumn/winter. Following the success of Orla Kiely's spring/summer collection for Uniqlo, the designer returns with a second collection, launching on 6th September in store and online.

The first Orla Kiely for Uniqlo collection was a sell-out. So much so, I didn't manage to get anything. Luckily, Uniqlo reissued it due to popular demand, which was when I snapped up one of Orla Kiely's flower-print shirts. It gets admired every time I wear it and people are pleasantly surprised when they discover it's a designer/high-street collaboration.

For Orla Kiely's autumn/winter collection for Uniqlo, there are dresses with Peter Pan collars (as pictured above), peplum shirts, long-sleeved tees, hoodies and scarves, all in Orla Kiely's trademark prints. It's less tailored than the previous collection, with soft cotton-jersey in place of starchy cottons, but it's just as bargainous.

Prices start at £9.90 for scarves, with the most expensive pieces being the hoodies at just £29.90. The long-sleeves tees are £14.90 and the dresses and shirts are £19.90.

Uniqlo asked me to style its Orla Kiely collection my way, following the fun I had dressing up in its Laura Ashley collaboration (see here and here). So in the run up to the launch, I'll be showing you my favourite pieces from the collection every day.

First up are the pretty print cotton-jersey dresses with contrasting Peter Pan collars and cuffs. There's a wide selection of patterns, from small ditsy prints to bigger, bolder designs, all in autumnal shades. There's several dresses I've got my eye on! They're so wearable as you can team them with this season's new small heel, ballet pumps or brogues. Add a jacket and you're office-smart.

Visit the Orla Kiely page on Uniqlo's website for a preview of all the dresses, as well as the rest of the collection. Note the peplum shirt isn't featured as it's dropping in store and online on 15th September, but I'll give you a sneak peek later this week. Can't get enough? Here's the video for Orla Kiely for Uniqlo autumn/winter collection, too.

    1. Hi charlienin,

Hope you had fun at Bestival! Yes, there's still lots of Orla Kiely x Uniqlo stock. Definitely more stuff in store than online.

The hoodies have been selling out fast, though. But peplum shirts to hit online next week.

Hope you get the pieces you want.

  2. Well the models in the video look about 12 compared to my more mature years but I am not put off!! It all looks fab and I just have to decide which dress, I like the one with the blue collar and love the red based top! I managed to get a t shirt and stole in the summer collection and the cotton is so soft, thanks for letting me know about this, your posts are great!

    1. Hi Deb,

Pleasure! That's what I'm here for – to spread the word!! So glad you've enjoyed the posts.

I loved the summer Orla Kiely x Uniqlo collection, too. I was lucky it was reissued as I missed out on it first time round - it sold out so quickly!

Hope you got the dress and top you wanted.

    1. Hi Sallytangle,

I love Orla Kiely prints, too! They're retro yet modern, utterly recognisable yet cool.

It's great that Uniqlo is able to bring Orla Kiely to us at such great prices.

      I hope you got something!

  4. Ahh I'm so in love! These dresses are beautiful, such bargains too you'd pay way more for pieces in other stores that aren't designer collaborations. I so hope I get my hands on one. xxx

    1. Hi Elizabeth Lau,

I got the cat on eBay. And, as you donated yours to a charity shop, it could well be the very same cat!
